These are from 4 months ago, in May. Better late than never, right?
We went to Milan for a long weekend, and while it quickly became a city I'd happily live in, it's not the best for tourism or holiday photos. It is great for a shopping trip, if you want recommendations ask in the comments :)
But the beautiful Varenna on Lake Como is only an hour away by train, hence this post.
The ferries run often between towns on the Lake, and they didn't seem far. If you go early you'll have time to explore one or two more. Varenna at least was quite small, I expect the others will be to. You might also consider taking the train back to Milan from a different place.
As you can probably tell by the lack of photos of other towns, we didn't go early... The Nhow hotel has really, really comfortable beds and sofas, and it's right next to Navigli. Waking up early just wasn't going to happen...
You'll need to pay a small entrance fee to visit the gardens, but it's very worth it!
