Last Thursday we spent the evening at the Skip Garden Kitchen in King's Cross. It's a garden in the middle of the development area that moves to different locations on the site as and when the land it's in is sold and built on. As of now, you can find it right next to the King's Cross Pond Club. It makes for a really interesting contrast to what's going on around it:
We were there for a private event, but the kitchen is open to the public from Tuesday to Saturday from 10h to 16h. They serve food grown in the garden itself, and other local organic vegetables.
There was an open bar, mini quiches, pizza made in a wood fired oven, falafel and a salad bar. You can walk around the garden, ask questions about it, convince the bartenders you don't need any kind of water in your mojito, chill in the deck chairs, AND, most importantly, they let you make your own little garden to take home:
Mine has strawberries, lemon grass, oregano, mint and a small LEGO transformer guy to protect it. With a shotgun. (This was totally not meant for kids)
